Our Christian faith anchors its hope in the kingdom of God, which is a future reality: One day, the kingdom of God will be established in this world (Rev. 11:15), and there will be no more sorrow, sickness, temptation, sin, and death (Rev. 21:4). There will be eternal joy for all, and we will experience the presence, power, and life of God in all its fullness. The good news is that today, we can have a taste of the powers of the age to come because the kingdom has already penetrated this present evil age. The blessings are already here, albeit not in its fullness. The kingdom of God is an upside-down kingdom. You save your life by losing it. You become first by being the last. You are a leader by serving others, especially the poor and needy. To be great in the kingdom of God, you must take up the cross and follow Jesus in a life of suffering and service towards the poorest and neediest in society.
